George Washington Wilson (1823-1893) was based in Aberdeen and became Queen Victoria’s official photographer in Scotland. Originally a portrait photographer he became more interested in landscapes in the 1860s. Aberdeen University has a collection of 38,000 of his glass plates but below is part of our collection. Most of these original plates will date between 1860 and 1880.
